In 2010, the Netherlands Antilles was dissolved as a unified political entity and the five constituent islands attained new constitutional statuses within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Curaçao and Sint Maarten became two new independent states within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the old "Bank van de Nederlandse Antillen" became the "Centrale

Bank van Curaçao en St Maarten." On 22 August 2024, this new Centrale Bank unveiled its first family of banknotes which draw inspiration from the “World Under the Sea.”

The fronts of the banknotes depict the vibrant marine life native to Curaçao and Sint Maarten, and these notes have been nominated as an IBNS candidate for 2025 banknote of the year.
