This note is an example of a Japanese Han-Satsu, sometimes called "bookmark money" because of its elongated shape issued during the feudal period.
It was issued in 1777 from the Amagasaki Han, Settsu Province now Hyogo Prefecture in Japan, and has the denomination of 10 monme silver which corresponded to the weight of 37.5 grams of silver.
The blue stripes were an early anti-counterfeiting feature used on the note in addition to the intricate design.
Here is the newly issued 2024 banknote series from the United Kingdom. These polymer notes are similar to the 2015 series of banknotes, but now feature the portrait of King Charles III replacing the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The new banknotes are circulating in parallel with the prior series which will be replaced when they are worn or damaged
